Description
Members of the testicular orphan receptor subfamily of the nuclear receptors, TR2 and TR4, function as negative modulators to suppress the transcriptional activity of other members of the nuclear receptor superfamily such as AR function in prostate, ERα in the mammary gland or PPARα in keratinocytes. TR2 is expressed in tissues in all major physiological systems (central nervous system (CNS), endocrine, metabolic, gastrointestinal, immune, reproductive, cardiovascular, respiratory and structural) with particularly high levels in the testis.
