Description
Testicular orphan receptor 4 (TR4) is a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily of transcription factors. TR4 is thought to function as a transcriptional modulator of NR target genes. TR4 is expressed in tissues in all major physiological systems (central nervous system (CNS), endocrine, metabolic, gastrointestinal, immune, reproductive, cardiovascular, respiratory and structural) with particularly high levels in the cerebrum, kidney, thymus and testis. Targeted disruption (knockout) of TR4 results in delayed and disrupted late meiotic prophase in spermatogenesis.
