Description
Clofibrate is a member of the fibrate class of drugs and an agonist of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-α (PPARα), a member of the PPAR subfamily of nuclear receptors. Like other fibrates such as ciprofibrate and fenofibrate, it has been used in the treatment of atherogenic elevated low-density lipoproteins and dyslipidemias in patients with type II diabetes.
