Description
Mammalian circadian clocks synchronize biological functions by deploying molecular oscillators consisting of two interlocked feedback loops, a core loop (involving transcriptional repression by PER proteins) and a stabilizing loop (involving transcriptional regulation by members of the nuclear receptor (NR) superfamily). PER2 has been shown to function as a coregulator of several NRs and has been suggested to propagate clock information to metabolic pathways via NRs.
