Dear Visitor,

On behalf of the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), I would like to extend to you a warm welcome to the Nuclear Receptor Signaling Atlas (NURSA).

NURSA began in 2002 with the objective to accrue, develop, and communicate information about the Nuclear Receptor Superfamily.  Since inception, NURSA has developed a unique and detailed website that serves as a portal to information about nuclear receptors, coregulators, ligands, and downstream targets.  Links to additional sites throughout the world provide a depth and wealth of information not found elsewhere.

Co-funding for NURSA includes the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and the National Institute on Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), of the NIH. During this next phase of NURSA investigators will attempt to provide a systems or integrated physiology framework created during the previous five years.  The ultimate goal is to enhance our understanding of diseases in which nuclear receptors play a role.  The information provided by NURSA is for the use of the broad scientific community and it is hoped that this new knowledge will be used with appropriate attribution of the role that NURSA has played in its creation and/or collation.  Contributions to the web portal are welcomed through submissions to the peer reviewed MEDLINE-indexed journal, Nuclear Receptor Signaling (NRS) and through submission of validated datasets relevant to nuclear receptors and coregulators.

The ABOUT NURSA section of the NURSA web portal provides information on the background and mission of NURSA, its constituent member laboratories, and its specific research goals (see links on the left). The members of NURSA welcome the opportunity, where appropriate, to recruit laboratories to NURSA in continuing pursuit of its research goals. Check the web portal regularly for news on forthcoming opportunities for interaction with members of the NURSA consortium as well as updates to the various databases provided through the web portal.

Please use the links above to find out more about NURSA's history, member laboratories and their research strategies, as well as our administrative structure and policies.

Best wishes,

Ronald N. Margolis, Ph.D.
Scientific Officer, NURSA
