GCNF

Browse nuclear receptors

Name
Germ cell nuclear factor 1
Symbol
GCNF
NRNC Symbol
NR6A1

Overview

GCNF is an orphan member of the nuclear receptor superfamily of transcription factors that functions as a transcriptional repressor. It is an essential factor in vertebrate embryogenesis.

Expression

GCNF is expressed at low levels in many tissues but is expressed at high levels in the testes.

Phenotypes

Disruption (knockout) of GCNF is embryonic lethal and is associated with significant defects in posterior development.
