EAR2

Browse nuclear receptors

Name
V-erbA related protein
Symbol
EAR2
NRNC Symbol
NR2F6

Overview

EAR2 is a member of the COUP-TF orphan subfamily of the nuclear receptor superfamily of transcription factors. Its functions include negative regulation of renin gene transcription and neuronal development.

Expression

EAR2 is expressed in tissues in all major physiological systems (central nervous system (CNS), endocrine, metabolic, gastrointestinal, immune, reproductive, cardiovascular, respiratory and structural) with particularly high levels in the colon, gall bladder, kidney and aorta.

Phenotypes

Targeted disruption (knockout) of the Ear2 in mice results in abnormal development of the locus coeruleus, which also impairs the functionality of the forebrain clock and affects nociception.
