Description
Raloxifene is a second generation selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) and a mixed agonist/antagonist for members of the nuclear receptor superfamily of transcription factors. It is used to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Raloxifene has estrogenic effects on bone and cholesterol metabolism, but behaves as an estrogen antagonist in the mammary gland and uterus.
