Description
4-hydroxytamoxifen (4HT) is the active metabolite of the breast cancer drug Tamoxifen, generated in a reaction catalyzed by the cytochrome P450 enzyme CYP2D6. It is a first-generation selective receptor modulator (SERM) for the estrogen receptor (ER) and estrogen-related receptor (ERR) subfamiles of the nuclear receptor superfamily of transcription factors. 4HT is an estrogen agonist in bone tissue and cholesterol metabolism but is an antagonist in the mammary gland and uterus.
